CATV HFC to 100% FTTH

There are millions of DVB-C STBs are working at current CATV HFC system. Replacing all these DVB-C STBs costs huge money and it is not practical to most CATV operators.  Meanwhile, it is expensive to use cable modem providing internet service over HFC system.  1550nm overlay FTTH system is a cost-effective choice for both DVB-C RF and Internet. The typical HFC network structure is based on star-network.  Trunk fiber cables are linked direct to a number of optical nodes (e.g. GWR1200) from GWT3500 1550nm transmitter at headend, and each optical node serves hundreds of CATV subscribers over coaxial cable.

Greatway Technology suggests installing GRT319 remote OLT at the optical node location of HFC system to save trunk fiber cable investment and maintaining all DVB-C RF services.  We keep the 1550nm star-network to each optical node and introduce 2.5Gbps or 10Gbps on the same fiber to the optical node fiber by WDM.

The former optical node is replaced by one GRT319 Remote-OLT at the same location and same power supply.  Former coaxial splitters and cables are replaced by PLC splitters and FTTH cables to cover all subscribers.

RemoteOLT2

GRT319 Remote OLT is designed to replace HFC optical node, converting the last 100 meter coaxial cable distribution network into the last 100 meter fiber to the home network, offering both DVB-C RF and GPON internet services to all CATV subscribers. With Aluminum water-proof housing, GRT319 has one fiber input port where 10Gbps data and 1550nm CATV RF are directly from Headend by WDM, saving trunk fiber investment.  GRT319 has one fiber output integrating built-in 20dBm EDFA and single port GPON OLT, supporting up to 256 subscribers in the radius of 100 meter FTTH cable.  Working with GFH1000-K FTTH CATV receiver, GRT319 Remote OLT keeps DVB-C STB only business for CATV subscribers.  Working with GONU1100W FTTH ONU, GRT319 Remote OLT provides 2.5Gbps down streaming internet besides CATV RF.

Node by node, GRT319 can assist CATV MSO converting one-way HFC CATV system into two-way FTTH system at the affordable budget.
