Two Satellites DTH over Fiber

With internet prevailing on this planet, the on-demand video streaming takes a big share in the personal TV entertainment market. Live TV from satellites still plays the important role in family TV or party TV entertainment market.  Satellite MSOs has to offer excellent TV contents to attract and keep subscribers. Unlike FTA contents, the dominating satellite MSOs have the CA encrypted TV contents. Different satellite MSO has its featured contents to compete in the market. Subscribers may like to watch more than one satellite when new satellite may offer different attractive contents.

Traditional sat dish installation is very difficult for one home to afford multi-sat dishes. However, community fiber or city fiber makes it much easier to distribute two satellites or four satellites contents to multi-homes. On the other hand, fiber owner can have more value added service by offering satellite distribution service. Each FTTH subscriber can choose satellite A or satellite B or both satellite contents.

DirecTV and Dish, TataPlay and Airtel, Sky Mexico and Dish Mexico, Nilesat and Arabsat, etc., Greatway Technology satellite TV fiber products make these satellite combinations available at the home covered by fiber.

Solution B1

For the satellite MSO with less than 32 transponders, the above drawing works for each FTTH subscriber to enjoy one sat or two sat contents. GLB3500M-2T optical transmitter converts two twin LNB RFs from two satellites and Terrestrial TV (174~700MHz) RF into one 1550nm fiber from one building roof. The optical output of GLB3500M-2T can drive 32pcs optical receivers directly by PLC fiber splitter, where one GLB2000A optical receiver offers any of the two satellites contents and Terr TV signals to one STB and TV in one apartment, GLB3500M-2R4-K optical receiver supports one Terr TV port for multi-TVs and 4 sat STBs in one apartment, each sat STB can be either satellite A STB or satellite B STB. If the subscriber number is more than hundreds or thousands in the community or in the city, we shall have one optical amplifier GWA3530 after GLB3500M-2T optical transmitter. GWA3530 optical amplifier has 8 or 16 or 32 or 64 port, each port can drive 16 or 32 or 64 optical receivers.  In other words, GWA3530 can drive 1024 optical receivers or 2048 optical receivers or 4096 optical receivers in 20Km fiber distance. With optional OLT input port, GWA3530 can insert satellite TV RF over the same fiber of GPON or XGPON network. 

The advantages of satellite TV FTTH:

  1. Two sat dishes for 32 subscribers or thousands of subscribers
  2. Better Satellite signal quality at each fiber terminal
  3. Fiber terminal is easy installation in 5 minutes by “plug and play” design
  4. Regular satellite receiver from Satellite A STB or Satellite B STB

If the satellite has more than 32 satellite transponders, the lower band and higher band (under 22KHz tone) are introduced at Quattro LNB to meet regular satellite receiver 950MHz~2150MHz frequency range. We recommend to install twin wideband LNB GWB104G at the satellite dish. GWB104G LNB has 10.4GHz LO frequency and two RF outputs with bandwidth of 300MHz~2350MHz, i.e., wideband Vertical RF is equivalent to Vertical Lower (VL) and Vertical Higher (VH) while wideband Horizontal RF is equivalent to Horizontal Lower (HL) and Horizontal Higher (HH). Since wideband RF bandwidth is beyond the RF bandwidth of satellite receiver, we need Digital Channel Satellite Switcher (dCSS) chip to convert wideband RF into the range of satellite receiver. In addition, the satellite receiver must support unicable standard. 

Solution B2

In the above drawing, GLB3500E-4T optical transmitter converts two twin wideband LNB RFs into one 1550nm fiber from one building roof. The optical output of GLB3500E-4T can drive 32pcs optical receivers directly or thousands of optical receivers by GWA3530 amplifier.  At each apartment, one GLB3500E-4WR optical receiver supports 4 unicable satellite receivers and one GLB3500E-4WR2 optical receiver supports 8 unicable satellite receivers.  Each satellite receiver can decode all FTA contents from these two satellites and the encrypted contents by the CA card.
